We are called to act by speaking out as advocates and engaging in local efforts to guarantee the right to vote to all citizens. ELCAvotes is an initiative to: Expand the role of the church in encouraging faithful and non-partisan voter participation by providing faith based resources around voting; Provide a framework for all Lutherans to understand and speak out about the intersection of voting/elections, racial/gender and economic justice; Provide young adults the tools to understand and speak about what it means to be a young person of faith who is civically engaged; and Engage with and equip ethnic communities to talk about voting rights and race and their connection with elections today. “[It is] resolved, that members, congregations, and synods of this church be encouraged to “promote public life worthy of the name” by speaking out as an advocate and engaging in local efforts such as voter registration and supporting legislation to guarantee the right to vote to all citizens …” Social Policy Resolution “Voting Rights to All Citizens” adopted Aug. 2013

Tax Prep Season! The Senior Center is looking forward to next year’s tax season! We are hoping to have volunteer tax preparers here at the Lincoln County Senior Center for next year’s tax season! This would benefit the Senior community and bring more people into the Senior Center who may not be aware of all of our services. We will need enough volunteers that will work through the tax season once they get started. If you, or any of your family, friends, or acquaintances would be interested in volunteering to learn how to prepare taxes, please call the Senior Center and let us know. There will be plenty of training for you. This training will begin in September so we need an idea of who may be interested to order training materials. We would also need someone willing to be a local coordinator. Please call 704-732-9053 if you or someone you know are interested!
Stories of Faith in Action www.livinglutheran.org The publication Stories of Faith in Action and the resources that go along with it are designed to share how important your weekly offering in your congregation is in sustaining and growing God’s mission. The portion of your offerings that support the ELCA’s synodical and churchwide ministries is called Mission Support. The publication and resources found here help explain and answer questions about Mission Support and tell the story of those gifts in action.
